Pernand-Vergelesses Premier cru - Les Fichots

Pernand-Vergelesses Premier CruLes Fichots

VARIETAL

100% Pinot Noir

VINEYARD

The vineyards of Pernand-Vergelesses are on a very hilly area. They stretch over the slopes in between the hills of Aloxe Corton and Savigny-les-Beaune. In the village of Pernand-Vergelesses only six plots are classified as red Premiers Crus: les Fichots, en Caradeux, Creux de la Net, Iles des Vergelesses and Les Plantes des Champs. This locality is one of the oldest vineyards of Burgundy. It was planted in 1158 by the monks of the Abbaye de Maizières on a limestone marl soil.

TASTING

A dark garnet color with shades of violet.  Complex aromatic intensity with notes of small black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), licorice, and toasted bread on a mineral touch (marl).
On the palate, well delineated and fresh with flavors of Morello cherries. Good structure with present but well integrated tannins.  Persistent and fresh finish, mineral and fruity.
